Mercedes Benz USA is advertising in the Super Bowl for the first time this year, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Karl Benz's patent on what is generally credited as being the first automobile.

"Mercedes Benz pioneered the automobile," said Steve Cannon, vice president of marketing for Mercedes Benz USA. "There's a lot of people out there who think that Ford invented the automobile, but they invented mass production."

Mercedes is rolling out as many as five new models this year, and two of them will be unveiled in the 60-second spot.
